The
Department of Geography organized a One Day Workshop on “Soil and Water
Analysis” on Tuesday, 30 December 2025. The workshop was organized with the
objective of providing students with practical knowledge about soil and water
analysis and creating awareness about the importance of soil and water
resources in sustainable environmental management. The workshop was conducted
by two eminent resource persons, Dr. Ratnadeep Jadhav, Willingdon College,
Sangli, and Dr. Rajekhan Shakalgar, Rajaram College, Kolhapur. The resource
persons provided detailed guidance on the basic concepts, methods and practical
aspects of soil and water analysis. They explained the importance of examining
soil and water quality, various parameters used in analysis, and the relevance
of analytical results in agriculture and environmental studies. The programme
was presided over by Prin. Dr. Satish Ghatge, who emphasized the importance of
practical and skill-based learning in Geography. He encouraged students to
participate actively in such workshops and develop scientific and field-based
approaches to geographical studies.
A
total of 80 students from various colleges in Karad Tahsil participated in the
workshop. The participants gained valuable practical knowledge and developed a
better understanding of soil and water quality assessment. The workshop was
informative, interactive and highly beneficial for the students. It provided an
excellent platform for enhancing their practical skills and understanding of
environmental resources. Overall, the One Day Workshop on Soil and Water
Analysis was successfully organized by the Department of Geography and received
a positive response from the participating students.

The Department of Geography organized a One Day Workshop on “Surveying Techniques” on 10 March 2025. The workshop was organized with the objective of providing students with practical knowledge and skills related to surveying techniques and their applications in geographical studies. The workshop was conducted by two resource persons, Prof. Vinod Kamble, Mahila College, Karad, and Dr. Praveen Talekar, S. G. M. College, Karad. Both resource persons provided valuable guidance to the students regarding various surveying methods, instruments, field techniques, measurements, and the practical applications of surveying in Geography. During the workshop, the resource persons explained the importance of surveying in geographical research and field studies. They introduced students to different surveying techniques and demonstrated how accurate field measurements can be collected and used for geographical analysis. The practical orientation of the workshop helped students understand the relationship between theoretical knowledge and field-based geographical work.
The
workshop also emphasized the importance of accuracy, observation, measurement,
and systematic data collection during field surveys. Students actively
participated in the learning activities and gained useful practical knowledge
that can be applied in academic projects, field studies, mapping, and
geographical research. The programme was presided over by Principal Prof. Dr.
Satish Ghatge. In his presidential address, he appreciated the efforts of the
Department of Geography in organizing the workshop and emphasized the
importance of practical and field-based learning in Geography education. The
workshop received an encouraging response from the students and faculty
members. It was informative, practical, and successful in enhancing students’
knowledge and skills in surveying techniques.
