The Department of Geography organized a
Guest Lecture on the occasion of World Population Day on Monday, 13 July 2026.
The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among
students about population growth, population distribution, demographic changes,
and the various social, economic, and environmental challenges associated with
population dynamics. The resource person for the programme was Dr. Vijaykumar
Jawan, S. G. M. College, Karad. In his informative lecture, Dr. Vijaykumar
explained various aspects of population studies from a geographical
perspective. He discussed population growth, density, distribution, migration,
urbanization, demographic changes, and the relationship between population and
available natural resources. The resource person emphasized the importance of
population awareness and sustainable development. He explained how rapid
population growth can influence natural resources, employment, housing,
education, health services, and the environment. He also encouraged students to
understand contemporary population issues and their regional implications
through geographical analysis.
The programme was presided over by
Principal Prof. Dr. Satish Ghatge. In his presidential address, he appreciated
the efforts of the Department of Geography in organizing the guest lecture and
highlighted the importance of studying population issues for achieving balanced
and sustainable development. The lecture was informative and beneficial for the

The Geography Department organized a Guest Lecture on Monday, 20 April 2026, on the topic “Important Skills for Learning Geography.” The lecture was delivered by Dr. Neelam Desai from V. C. College, Karad, who provided valuable guidance to students on the essential skills required for learning Geography, including observation, map reading, fieldwork, data interpretation and analytical thinking. She emphasized the importance of developing practical and geographical skills for academic and research activities. The programme was presided over by Prin. Dr. Satish Ghatge, who encouraged students to make effective use of such academic opportunities. The lecture was informative, interactive and beneficial for the students.

Tourism Day on 27 September 2025. The programme was organized with the
objective of creating awareness among students about the importance of tourism,
its geographical significance, and its contribution to social and economic
development. The resource person for the programme was Dr. Snehal Rajhans,
Krushna College, Rethre Budruk. In her informative lecture, Dr. Rajhans
explained various dimensions of tourism and its importance in the development
of different regions. She highlighted the relationship between geography and
tourism and discussed the significance of natural, cultural, historical, and
heritage resources in promoting tourism.
The resource person also emphasized the role of tourism in generating employment opportunities, promoting local businesses, supporting rural development, and contributing to regional economic growth. She discussed the importance of responsible and sustainable tourism and encouraged students to understand the potential of tourism from a geographical perspective. emphasized the importance of population awareness and sustainable development for
achieving a balanced and prosperous society. The lecture provided students with

Geography in understanding the physical, social, economic, and environmental
aspects of the world. The resource person for the programme was Dr. Sunita
Chavan, VC College, Karad. In her informative and enlightening lecture, Dr.
Chavan explained the significance of Geography as a multidisciplinary subject.
She highlighted the role of geographical knowledge in understanding natural
resources, environmental changes, population, economic activities, regional
development, and contemporary geographical issues.
The
resource person also emphasized the importance of geographical thinking and
field-based learning. She encouraged students to develop an interest in
geographical studies and to explore various academic and career opportunities
available in the field of Geography. The lecture was highly informative and
helped students to understand the practical relevance of Geography in

शिक्षणमहर्षी बापूजी साळुंखे महाविद्यालायत दिनांक १४ जानेवारी २०२३ (शनिवार) रोजी भूगोल विभागामार्फत भूगोल दिन मोठ्या उत्साहात साजरा करण्यात आला.भूगोल विभागामार्फत प्रा.प्रवीण तळेकर (सहाय्यक प्राध्यापक, भूगोल विभाग,सद्गुरू गाडगे महाराज महाविद्यालय कराड) यांचे " जागतिक हवामान बदल व समस्या " या विषयावर व्याख्यान आयोजित करण्यात आले होते. कार्यक्रमाची सुरुवात पृथ्वीगोलाची पूजा करून करण्यात आली. या कार्यक्रमासाठी महाविद्यालयाचे सन्माननीय प्राचार्य डॉ. महेश गायकवाड,ज्युनियर महाविद्यालयाचे सुपरवायझर प्रा.सुरेश रजपूत ,वरिष्ठ व कनिष्ठ महाविद्यालयाचे स्टाफ सेक्रेटरी प्रा.सचिन बोलाईकर, प्रा.सुरेश यादव व सर्व गुरुदेव कार्यकर्ते उपस्थित होते . कार्यक्रमाचे प्रास्ताविक भूगोल विभाग प्रमुख प्रा. एस. डी. कांबळे यांनी केले तर प्रमुख पाहुण्यांची ओळख प्रा. एस.ए.काकडे यांनी करून दिली. कार्यक्रमासाठी शैक्षणिक वर्ष २०२०-२१ चे माजी विद्यार्थी हि मोठ्या संखेने उपस्थित होते. भूगोल दिनाचे औचीत्य्य साधून विभाग मार्फत ५००० /- रुपये महाविद्यालयाच्या एन. सी .सी युनिटला देण्यात आले. माजी विद्यार्थ्यांनी विभागासाठी सावित्रीबाई फुले यांची प्रतिमा भेट दिली. कु.करिष्मा पवार व अनिकेत कुंभार तसेच माजी विद्यार्थी विनायक कांबळे यांनी आपली मनोगते व्यक्त केली. कार्यक्रमाचे सूत्रसंचालन प्रा. शोभा लोहार यांनी केले तर आभार प्रा. डॉ. पी. वाय. साळुंखेयांनी मानले .

दिनांक १३ डिसेंबर २०२२ रोजी शिक्षणमहर्षी बापुजी साळुंखे महाविद्यालयातील भूगोल विभागा मार्फत महाविद्यालयातील ग्रंथालयास भेट देण्यात आली. यामध्ये विध्यार्थ्यांना ग्रंथालयातील भूगोल विषयाची संदर्भ व अभ्यासक्रम पाठ्यपुस्तके यांची माहिती व्हावी हा प्रमुख उद्देश होता. ग्रंथालयातील भूगोल विषयाची विविध मासिके व ती कशी शोधावीत , इतर अवांतर वाचनाची पुस्तके व त्यांची ग्रंथालयातील रचना , ओपॅक सिस्टम कशी वापरावी , ग्रंथालयाचे नियम तसेच वर्षभराचे उपक्रम याच्या विषयी महाविद्यालयाच्या ग्रंथपाल प्रा.रांगोळे मॅडम यांनी सविस्तर माहिती दिली. विद्यार्थ्यांसमवेत विभागाच्या प्रा. शोभा लोहार उपस्थित होत्या. या उपक्रमासाठी विभाग प्रमुख प्रा. एस.डी .कांबळे याचे मार्गदर्शन लाभले .प्रा.काकडे सर व प्रा.साळुंखे यांचे सहकार्य लाभले.

"ज्ञान, विज्ञान आणि सुसंस्कार यांसाठी शिक्षण प्रसार" या ध्येयाने प्रेरित होऊन शिक्षणमहर्षी बापूजी साळुंखे महाविद्यालायत अनेक विद्यार्थी केंद्रित उपक्रम वर्षभर राबविले जातात, त्यातीलच एक उपक्रम म्हणजे दिनांक ३० सप्टेंबेर २०२२, वार - शुक्रवार रोजी भूगोल विभागामार्फत साजरा केलेला 'जागतिक पर्यटन दिन'. जागतिक पर्यटन दिनानिमित्त भूगोल विभागामार्फत प्रा.अवधूत कुलकर्णी ( सहाय्यक प्राध्यापक, भूगोल विभाग,महिला महाविद्यालय कराड) यांचे व्याख्यान आयोजित करण्यात आले होते. या कार्यक्रमासाठी महाविद्यालयातील जेष्ठ प्राध्यापक व समाजशास्त्र विभाग प्रमुख प्रा. ए.जी.खोत सर तेसेच स्टाफ सेक्रेटरी व इतिहास विभाग प्रमुख प्रा. बोलाईकर उपस्थित होते . या कार्यक्रमाचे नियोजन करताना महाविद्यालयाचे सन्माननीय प्राचार्य डॉ. महेश गायकवाड, भूगोल विभाग प्रमुख प्रा. एस. डी. कांबळे याचे मार्गदर्शन लाभले. कार्यक्रमासाठी भूगोल विभागातून प्रा . एस. ए . काकडे , प्रा. डॉ. पी. वाय. साळुंखे व प्रा. शोभा लोहार उपस्थित होते.
